Python Google Chart

Hier hatte ich über die Google Chart API berichtet, mit der man sich alle möglichen Charts und Diagramme erstellen kann. Und nun gibt es einen Python Wrapper dafür, Python Google Chart, der das Erstellen der Bildchen für Pythonistas noch einmal vereinfacht. [Noch einmal Peter van I. per Email.]

Software-Aktualisierung anschmeißen...

denn heute nacht veröffentlichte Apple das Security Update 2007-009, das u.a. die Sicherheit von Komponenten wie Core Foundation, CUPS, Flash Player Plug-In, Launch Services, Perl, Python, Ruby oder Safari verbessern soll. Das Update gibt es für MacOS 10.5.1 und 10.4.11. [Mac Essentials - RSS20]

Die automatische Schlange

Run Python Script Automator action (BSD-Lizenz) »is written using Python and PyObjC (now built-in to Mac OS X 10.5). Apple already provides »Run AppleScript« and »Run Shell Script« actions with Automator which give Automator a high degree of flexibility. However Python is my preferred scripting language and by writing a custom action purely for Python I was able to take advantage of some PyObjC features that in my opinion make my action superior to the provided Apple scripting action.«

The script is pure Python and uses the extremely cool boto Python module to interact with Amazon web services. Schlangenfraß zwischen Pappedeckel

Das Buch Python Scripting for Computational Science ist in der dritten Auflage draußen. Es zeigt auf 780 Seiten, wie man mit Python wissenschaftliche Anwendungen für die Datenanalye und Visualisierung verbindet oder wie man Simulaitonen automatisiert: »The book also covers steering simulations and computational experiments; equipping old programs with graphical user interfaces; making computational Web applications; and creating interactive interfaces with a Maple/Matlab-like syntax to numerical applications in C/C++ or Fortran. The highly qualified author argues that scripting with Python makes you much more productive, increases the reliability of your scientific work and lets you have more fun - on Unix, Windows and Macintosh. All the tools and examples in this book are open source codes.
